A MAN has now admitted to abusing an ex on social media and threatening violence to her and her mum.

Steven Whyte, 32, pled guilty to harassing his former partner when he appeared to face trial last week after contacting her over the internet on April 12.

Whyte, of Fleming Crescent, Saltcoats admitted to a charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause a person to suffer cause fear and alarm after using a social media app to contact his former partner.

He then repeatedly shouted and swore at her while uttering derogatory remarks and threats of violence toward her and her mother.

A not guilty plea to another charge of breaching his bail was accepted by the Procurator Fiscal when he appeared in Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Friday [October 23].

Sentencing was deferred for Criminal Justice Social Work reports before bail was granted.

Whyte will return to Kilmarnock Sheriff Court at a later date.
