THE founder of a charity which aims to help families with the loss of a child has been given a Lockdown Legend award.

Julie Morrison, 40, founded Baby Loss Retreat, a charity which helps bereaved families, with her husband, Bryan, after the loss of their daughter Erin who was stillborn in 2003.

Julie was given the National Lottery award by TV presenter Jean Johannsson in a special ceremony at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Westerwood Hotel.

Julie, from Coatbridge, said: "We set up the Baby Loss Retreat as we wanted to offer something to people who have suffered like us as a family, as they continue to deal with the loss that never leaves them.

“When the coronavirus lockdown came into place, we knew grieving parents would feel more isolated than ever.

"We were hearing stories of women having to go for bad news scans and undergo time in hospital alone.

"Setting up the online and phone support was really important to

ensure that grieving families could still access support.”

The charity will also receive a £3,000 cash prize as part of Julie's win in the category.
