New floodlights are now planned for Kilwinning Sports Club after the Buffs made their big move to Pennyburn.

An application was submitted for eight new 15metre high floodlights at the main football pitch at the Buffs new home

The application to erect the Abucus sports pack HL250 lights was submitted by Chair Colin Boyd and validated by planning chiefs last week.

Chair Colin Boyd said: “We need them to comply with the SFA licence. They are LED 1,000 watts which will give which will give us about 280 lux on the pitch.

“It’s been fantastic at KSC. The youth section has really grown and we’ve added a lot of new teams.

“Everyone seems to be puling in the same direction.”

This comes after the club previously made the big move to Kilwinning Sports Club after fans voted to leave Abbey Bark with the club’s old pitch no longer fit for purpose.

The Times exclusively revealed back in June 2018 that Buffs bosses had been eyeing a move to the sports club as a possible solution to mounting problems at Abbey Park.

The news divided opinion

with some fans supporting a potential move in the hopes it would help progress the club, while others were determined moves should be made to save Abbey Park.

Kilwinning Rangers recently played their first competitive matches since March and their first as a senior club in the Premier Division of the new West of Scotland Football League – the sixth-tier of Scottish football.
