Filming of a new movie based on the life of a former Glasgow gangster will begin next year.

Paul Ferris announced on Twitter that the movie, based on the book written by both Paul Ferris and journalist Reg McKay, 'Villans: It Takes One to Know One', had secured funding.

Actors from Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool and London are now being sought as production for the drama will begin.

He tweeted: "A new film based on my book - Villains: It Takes One to Know One... Is the new project for 2021. Funding has now been secured - casting will start soon.

"Actors from Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool or  London - get your CV's ready. More to follow."

'Villans: It Takes One to Know One' reveals the real inside story of the villains Ferris met and worked with, the common thugs and big-time players that surrounded him and the world of violence and fear he lived in every day of his life in Glasgow, London and in Manchester.

The new movie will be the second film to be aired on the author and former gangster's life after Marton Compston starred as Ferris in 2013's 'The Wee Man'.
