ANOTHER 949 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon has announced.

The new cases, recorded in the past 24 hours, represent 8.6% of all tests and bring the total to 89,310.

No further deaths were recorded, though registration offices are generally closed over the weekend.

Since Friday, another 45 deaths have been confirmed among people who have tested positive in the previous 28 days. It means the total under that measurement is 3503.

“The figures remind us of the grief and heartbreak this virus has caused,” the First Minister said.

Some 1208 people are currently in hospital with recently confirmed coronavirus, an increase of 38 from yesterday.

Of those, 84 people are in intensive care, a decrease of 11.

Breaking down the daily figures, Sturgeon said 370 of the new cases were in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 190 were in Lanarkshire, 95 were in Lothian and 83 were in Ayrshire and Arran.

The other cases were spread across seven other mainland health board areas.
