A warning has been issued by police ahead of a potential protest at Parkhead this evening.

The force reminded Celtic supporters that current coronavirus restrictions prohibit large gatherings in indoor and outdoor spaces.

It comes after we reported that fan group Green Brigade would be staging the demonstration outside the East End stadium in their calls for the departure of club manager Neil Lennon.

Police Scotland are urging campaigners to find alternative methods of demonstration.

Superintendent Stevie Dolan, Greater Glasgow Division said: "We are aware of a proposed demonstration outside Celtic Park tonight (Wed 25 November) and would urge people to find alternative ways to protest, such as online, to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

"The Scottish Government regulations are quite clear that these types of protest are prohibited in areas under level four restrictions.

"Officers will continue to police these types of events using the 4Es approach of engaging with those taking part and explaining the restrictions in place to save lives.

“Our response will be measured and appropriate but we will use enforcement where required."
