Students and staff at Mauchline PS and ECC have teamed up with The Night Before Christmas campaign to provide gift boxes for families who may be struggling this year.

P5 pupils are taking the lead role in supporting the campaign to provide the gift boxes containing essential items and treats for children and families.

All pupils have been contributing to making small gift packages with Christmas letters, cards and pictures for people in the community who may need some extra festive cheer.

The school has received more than 100 nominations for these.

Staff have also been creating and delivering Christmas food parcels in partnership with ex-pupils to those who need them.

Head Teacher Ms Dougan said: “It’s not the typical festive period, however we have been coming together creatively in order to connect with people across our community to make sure everyone feels that someone cares about them this Christmas.

“For me, this really does feel like the real meaning of Christmas.”
