If you are tired of looking at your real Christmas tree then don’t despair as North Ayrshire Council will be uplifting them from Monday, January 11.

You can put your tree inside your brown bin on collection day but it must be chopped up to a maximum of 5ft.

A spokeswoman for North Ayrshire Council said: “Households on the mainland and Cumbrae that need to dispose of a real Christmas tree can present this at the kerbside on their regular brown bin collection days this month, from week beginning January 11.

“However, the tree must be cut into sections of 5ft or less to enable it to fit inside the bin lorry.

“Residents on Arran can dispose of their real Christmas trees at Brodick Household Waste Recycling Centre.”

Are you planning on keeping your tree up for a little longer?

Last year some trees were proudly standing in living rooms from September so perhaps you want to keep the fairy lights sparkling and bring a little cheer into your home for the rest of the winter months?
