After a brief respite from almost two weeks of snow and ice, the wintry conditions are set to return, with the Met Office warning of freezing temperatures.
After the melting of the previous few days and the odd downpour here and there, the mercury is set to drop below 0 degrees Celsius yet again, meaning that what moisture remains on the ground could lead to treacherous conditions as it turns to ice.
The Yellow Warning issued by the Met Office begins at 3pm today (Monday, January 11), but it will not last long with the warning period due to finish at 11am tomorrow.

They say to be careful that "icy stretches will form on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths" and that there will be a "higher likelihood of accidents and injuries due to icy surfaces".
The warning covers most of mainland Scotland and many island communities too.
