Quick thinking Ardrossan wedding planner Emma Griffin put the icing on the cake for one couple when she stepped in as their photographer.

Emma, a wedding and events manager at The Gailes Hotel, made bride and groom Sarah and Andrew Conlan’s day one to remember by going above and beyond for the couple who, at one time feared they may never walk down the aisle together.

Groom Andrew, 28 had suffered a brain haemorrhage in September and was in intensive care for 11 days and in hospital for almost two months having been in a coma.

He needed weeks of intense physiotherapy as he was unable to move his left side so again the wedding was put off.

But with fiancée Sarah by his side, Andrew learned to walk again and as you can see by these pictures walked his new wife proudly down the aisle on December 12.

New bride Sarah, 27, said: “We had to postpone our wedding three times, it was a tough year.

“We had had two dates cancelled due to the pandemic and then Andrew suffered a brain haemorrhage but throughout that time of uncertainty the Gailes team were supportive all the way and stayed in touch with us.

“When the 12th of the 12th came up we decided to go for it, we were worried Andrew would struggle with such a busy day so we decided not to have an official photographer so when Emma stepped in we couldn’t believe it.

“We had an amazing time, it was much better than we thought it would be given the restricted numbers and Andrew was strong all day.

“For a wedding that didn’t have an official photographer, we have some cracking photos and feel very lucky.”

Modest Emma said: “I knew the couple had changed their date four times and I wanted to make sure December 12 was a special day for them and their family.

“While Sarah was getting ready I noticed it was a beautiful day and I told her to look out the window, we couldn’t believe the sunshine, it was stunning.

“I knew they didn’t have an official photographer, we were in the middle of a lockdown but I also knew it would be a sunset worth capturing for their special day.

“I asked Sarah if she minded if I called my husband Mark to bring my camera and she was delighted.

“I spent around 10 minutes taking some photographs for them and it was lovely to play a part in their big day.

“The love they have for each other was easy to capture in the photographs and we managed to get the stunning sunset from our apartment terrace too.”

And the couple were over the moon with Emma’s work.
