A popular Irvine coffee shop has announced it is temporarily closing due to staff self-isolating.
GRO Coffee confirmed the news on social media and said they “tried incredibly hard to keep going” but “sadly guys we have just too many of our amazing team now self-isolating”.
However, the coffee shop will only stay shut for 10 days with plans to reopen from 9am on January 25.
In a social media post GRO Coffee said: “Hope you are not too disappointed, sadly guys we have just too many of our amazing team now self-isolating as of today.
“We tried incredibly hard to keep going, but decided to close just for ten days, take a tiny break and hide below a cosy duvet!
“We love you all so much and it's the last thing we wanted to do! We will be back open Monday, January 25 at 9am.”
The news comes as tougher restrictions for takeaways come into effect from Saturday aimed at containing the new, faster-spreading variant of coronavirus.
The new rules include customers no longer being allowed to go inside premises to collect food or coffee with businesses now having to serve from a serving hatch or door.
