GIRVAN has been named the fifth most affordable place to live in the UK.
The national study carried out by Zoopla ranked Cumnock second at £74,000 with Shildon in County Durham being named the cheapest place to buy property in Britain with the average price of property in that town £60,000.
In Girvan, the average price of a house is £84,000 ranking it fifth.
Mauchline and Stevenston were also listed in the top 10 budget property towns.
Stevenston ranked in seventh place with property selling for an average of £77,000 and Mauchline was ranked ninth out of 10 with property costing £87,000.
The study was carried out using property sales for 2020.
Tom Parker, consumer expert at Zoopla said: “We know, now more than ever, that it’s important for buyers or potential buyers to know where they can get the most for their money."
