A man suffered serious facial injuries in an attack by six men in Springside.

The 40-year-old was assaulted by the group at around 9.25pm on the Main Road last night [Wednesday, February 24] before managing to make his way home and call an ambulance.

He was taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment and later released.

One of the suspects is described as wearing a white jumper and another was wearing light jeans with white boxer shorts visible underneath.

A white jeep-style vehicle is believed to have been involved in this incident.

Detective Constable Will Thomson from Saltcoats CID said: “The assault happened in the car park outside a shop, which would have been busy at the time with pedestrians and motorists.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, noticed a white jeep-style vehicle or anything at all suspicious, to get in touch.

“I would also urge any motorists with dash-cams who were in the area to please check their footage in case they have captured anything which could be of significance.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Saltcoats CID through 101, quoting incident number 1309 of Wednesday, 24 February. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
