The body of a man found at West Tannacrieff, near Fenwick, has been confirmed as that of missing man Jackson Mason.
Jackson Mason, 31, was reported missing from his home in Fenwick, East Ayrshire, on Saturday, December 19, 2020.
He was last seen between 4pm and 4.30pm on that day walking near the Fenwick Hotel which is close to the slip road for the M77.
However, on Sunday (February 28) police officers discovered the body of a man at West Tannacrieff, near Fenwick, just after 12pm.
Today (March 2) police confirmed the body was that of Jackson Mason.
Mr Mason's family have been informed.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We can confirm that the body of a man found at West Tannacrieff in East Ayrshire on Sunday, February 28, 2021 has been confirmed as Jackson Mason.
"The 31-year-old from Fenwick had been missing since Saturday, December 19, 2020.
"His next of kin has been made aware.
"His death is being treated as unexplained, pending the outcome of a post mortem examination, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
Chief Inspector Nathan Calderwood, East Ayrshire area commander, said: "Our thoughts are with Jackson's family and friends at this difficult time.
"I would take the opportunity to thank the local community for their support throughout this enquiry."
