Two men were arrested in the Fullarton area after a disturbance in Bank Street.
Officers arrested a 53 and 51-year-old in connection with an incident at around noon today [Thursday, March 4].
Police say inquiries are continuing into the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Bank Street, Irvine, at around 12pm following a report of a disturbance.
"Two men, aged 53 and 51, were traced near the Bailey Bridge and arrested in connection.
"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."
