NORTH Ayrshire Council has announced 40 Modern Apprenticeships across all of its departments.

From youth work to early years and professional cookery to business administration, the apprenticeships are open to 16 to 19-year-olds.

The vacancies go live on the MyJobScotland website from Monday, March 29 and close on April 25.

The council’s Youthwork team will be hosting a live Zoom Q&A session on Tuesday, April 6 between 3pm and 5pm, to promote their Modern Apprentice vacancies.

Over the last three years, the council has recruited 181 young people into its workforce through its MA programme.

Councillor Alex Gallagher, Cabinet Member for Post-Covid Renewal, North Ayrshire Council, said: “Once again this year, our young adults have faced cancellation of exams and school closures and will no doubt be worried about the future.

“We want to make clear our commitment to creating opportunities for our young people, and as a result we will be advertising a wide range of Modern Apprenticeships across a number of our council services.

“Appropriate recruitment plans will be subject to change and to accommodate COVID-19 government guidance. We are planning that those that are successful in securing a Modern Apprentice placement would start later this year.”
