IMPACT Arts is holding workshops this month aimed at helping young people in Ayrshire be more creative.

The taster sessions offer teenagers aged 14 to 19 everything from creative writing to hip hop music and Djing through the free online workshops.

Professionals in the industry will be leading the workshops and everyone who takes part will not only learn new skills but will also gain a Dynamic Youth award.

Gillian Pettigrew, of the Irvine based company, said: “The workshops are funded through CashBack for Communities and offer young people across Scotland access to free weekly workshops led by accomplished creatives, through our CashBack Hubs.

“The workshops are currently taking place online on Saturday and Sunday mornings, offering free, safe and creative spaces for participants to be inventive and imaginative.

Set up in 1994, Impact Arts works on the basis that using art and creativity, young people can feel empowered and make positive changes to their lives.

Gillian went on: “We consider the arts as a positive tool for change – helping people to build confidence and attain new skills; get back into work or education.”
