AN IRVINE man is set to relaunch his award-winning bootcamp back home near the beach as lockdown measures continue to ease.

Irvine’s official‘Toughest guy in Europe’ Scott Brown, who came 5th in 2019’s World’s Toughest Mudder – is now setting up his Scott Brown Fitness gym and bootcamp in Irvine after several award-winning years in Tarbolton.

The gym will be set up on Ailsa Road close to the Beach park – where Scott has also regularly hosted boot camp sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

He said: “A lot of my clients are from North Ayrshire and my heart was always wanting to go there when I first opened three and a half years ago.

“In this lockdown I thought If I don’t make that jump now it will be a lot harder. It will be at Ailsa Road near the beach park and I’m thinking the gym will be set up, open and ready by May 1.

“The place is double the size so more kit, more racks and even the obstacle course is double the size.

“It’s still getting set up but I’ve got an outdoor back area as well for obstacles so it’s exciting. Everything is there, but not in place yet.

“There’s a big stereotype about gyms – and I think that’s why a lot of folk did travel to Tarbolton for us.

“Some people can feel intimidated so my main priority was to change people’s experiences and build a community where people feel safe and have somewhere to go and not feel intimidated, where they can try new things and not feel anxious.

“People who have had bad experiences, this is the place to train and we let people develop in their own way. You don’t have to be a certain size, shape, or ability.”
