A 58-year-old woman from Irvine has been arrested and charged in connection to a number of doorstep incidents in the town, including demanding money.

Between April 1 and 7, the woman was responsible for six offences of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner by attending residential properties and aggressively demanding money.

PC Graham of the Irvine Locality Policing Team said: “Although not requesting significant amounts of money, this woman was attending at the home address of people she didn’t know, and was asking for money, often quite insistently, leaving residents concerned and alarmed.

“We would like to thank the community for assisting with our enquiries and for looking out for one another. Anti-social behaviour can have a significant impact on our communities, and Police Scotland will robustly police those responsible.”

Police Scotland can be contacted on 101 (in an emergency always use 999), or alternatively information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
