A pet cat that was boarded up into a flat following a midnight police raid in Irvine is now understood to be okay.
A man was arrested late last month in the middle of the night at a property in the Harbourside area in connection to an outstanding warrant.
The man appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday, March 29 – however council workers and the accused’s brother then had to visit the property the following evening to rescue a trapped cat.
While council chiefs declined to comment on the individual circumstances the Times was told its believed the cat was fine when it was later collected.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers attended at a property on Montgomery Street at around 11.30pm on Sunday, March 28 in relation to an outstanding warrant.
“A 33-year-old man was arrested in connection.”
A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “We will, on occasion, have to make emergency repairs to our properties to make them secure.
“However, we don’t comment on individual tenants or their circumstances.”
