A sex offender was led away from a house by the hand with his belongings after protests earlier in the week.
The convicted offender - who is not understood to be involved in any ongoing live criminal proceedings - was seen being escorted from the property in Aberfeldy Terrace on Tuesday [April 27] after recieving a community sentence for attempting to meet a child.
This comes after complaints from residents in the area and a demonstration from Irvine-based Team Shades activists which was broadcast on social media.
Police told the Times no arrest was made after the call out, while officers also engaged with the group - however gave no confirmation on the current status of the convicted paedophile.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At around 7.15pm on Tuesday, April 27 we were made aware of a number of people gathered at a house in Aberfeldy Terrace in Irvine. Officers attended and engaged with the group who later dispersed.
"No arrests have been made.”
Anyone with concerns can contact Police Scotland on 101 - in an emergency always dial 999.
