AN IRVINE man has now revealed the new gym set up as his award-winning bootcamp reopened its doors after the former squaddie moved his fitness base back home near the beach.
The town’s official ‘Toughest guy in Europe’ Scott Brown, who came fifth in 2019’s World’s Toughest Mudder – has now revealed the finishing touches to his brand new Scott Brown Fitness gym and bootcamp on Ailsa Road close to the Beach Park.
An open day for member inductions was held on Saturday at the new Irvine base – after several award-winning years in Tarbolton – with his wife Kerri offering lashes, makeup and spray tan beauty treatments and Hands for Health sports massages from Fred.
Scott told the Times: “It was good to get everyone in – it was first class. Loads of people have been excited to get in to see the place so we’ve been doing inductions and making people feel welcome.
“Folk were saying the pictures looked good but being down was even better and out of this world. It’s got so much different stuff to get training with and a good variety of equipment.
“There is a good atmosphere about the gym – I’m not sure what my favourite part is yet.”
Scott previously said on the big move back home that: “A lot of my clients are from North Ayrshire and my heart was always wanting to go there when I first opened three and a half years ago.
“In this lockdown I thought If I don’t make that jump now it will be a lot harder. It will be at Ailsa Road near the beach park and I’m thinking the gym will be set up, open and ready by May 1.
“The place is double the size so more kit, more racks and even the obstacle course is double the size. There’s a big stereotype about gyms – and I think that’s why a lot of folk did travel to Tarbolton for us.
“Some people can feel intimidated so my main priority was to change people’s experiences and build a community where people feel safe and have somewhere to go and not feel intimidated, where they can try new things and not feel anxious.
“People who have had bad experiences, this is the place to train and we let people develop in their own way. You don’t have to be a certain size, shape, or ability.”
