Charlie Scott-Martin, age nine, set himself a target to walk 81,000 steps in March to raise money for Ayrshire Hospice who cared for his great-grandad, Jim.

Jim would have turned 81 on March 31 this year.

In 2017, his great-grandad David also passed away in the hospice. Charlie wanted to take on this challenge to thank all the staff who helped his family so much.

By the end of March, Charlie smashed his total step count, reaching an impressive 226,875 steps and raised a phenomenal £1,735.38,

Stephanie McLaughlin from the fundraising team at Ayrshire Hospice was delighted to visit Crosshouse Primary School along with the hospice mascot, Agent H.

Stephanie said, “Huge thanks to everyone who

sponsored Charlie and helped him to raise such an exceptional amount. Charlie has fundraised for us before, along with his mum, Karen and we are extremely grateful for all their fundraising efforts

“It really means a lot to us, especially as COVID-19 has had a huge impact with many of our fundraising events being cancelled.

“Charlie’s idea was so unique and a wonderful

tribute to his two great-grandads.”
