A man had to be taken to hospital after he was found lying on the pavement in Irvine town centre. 

Inquiries are ongoing after concerns for the man were reported to cops - after he was found on the street in the Kirkgate area at 11.40am today [Thursday].

He has now been taken to Crosshouse Hospital with police still probing the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of concern for a man found lying on the pavement on Kirkgate in Irvine around 11.40am on Thursday, June 3.

"The man has been taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital and enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing."
