A 58-year-old man was seriously assaulted in Irvine yesterday following a violent attack at a house in the town. 

Around 9.50pm on the evening of Saturday, June 5, the man was at an address on Caldon Road when four men came to the house and seriously assaulted him.

Police and ambulance attended and the injured man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital where he was treated for lacerations. He was later released.

The four men responsible were all wearing dark-coloured clothing.

Detective Constable Ross Keenan of Saltcoats Police Station said: “We have been carrying out enquiries in the local area and checking CCTV footage to gather more information on the four men responsible for this violent attack.

“I would ask anyone who has information on their identity, or anyone with information that may assist our ongoing investigation to contact officers through 101 quoting reference 4162 of 5 June.
