KILWINNING’S Craig Potter, who completed 47 10k runs in memory of his mum, was invited to join Line of Duty star Mark Bonnar to launch a new charity appeal.

Craig carried out the gruelling 47 consecutive runs in memory of his mum Theresa this year to set up research funds in her honour and raise awareness of Scotland’s biggest killer.

And he raised over £18,000 to help fund research into heart disease affecting women and also into why you are three times more likely to suffer a heart attack in Scotland than you are in London.

On Monday he was asked to share his story at the launch of Heart Week for Heart Research UK which actor Mark is patron of and it is a charity that is close to the Scottish actor’s own heart.

Mark said: “My father had a triple bypass over 20 years ago, and thankfully he is still going strong.

“That’s why I’m especially proud to support the Heart of Scotland appeal to inform and educate all age groups and help make a change to people’s lives.”

The actor continued: “Heart disease is still the number one cause of death in Scotland when, ironically, it’s often the most easily preventable.”
