Improvement works have now been completed at homes for older residents.

The finishing touches at the Garrier Court Sheltered Housing Complex were completed recently, breathing new life into the homes at Springside.

The £2million works include new kitchens, bathrooms rewiring, central heating upgrades and new windows for all 19 properties.

The complex benefitted from roof and rendering improvements, while the communal areas were upgraded with a new scooter store and visiting services room created.

Cllr Jim Montgomerie, Cabinet Member for the Green New Deal and Sustainability, said: “As part of our commitment to housing improvement and our sheltered housing reprovisioning programme, we are investing substantially in homes for our older residents.

“Although slightly delayed as a result of the restrictions in place due to the pandemic, it’s wonderful to see the completion of improvements works at Garrier Court.

“This is the latest in a series of completed or ongoing projects to deliver modern, high-quality and energy efficient sheltered housing.

“Our residents have benefitted from refurbished surroundings at Connell Court in Kilbirnie, Woodgrove in Dreghorn, Currie Court in Ardrossan, Robert W Service Court in Kilwinning and Dickson Court in Beith. In addition, we have refurbishment works ongoing at Friars Lawn in Kilwinning.

“We’re really proud of the work we’re doing to ensure our older residents have warm, comfortable and modern homes.”

The £2million improvements – supported by a Scottish Government grant of £1.083million – have brought extensive internal and external improvements, designed for older residents.
