A NEW bank is opening a kiosk inside a Kilwinning supermarket as part of a pilot project.

As more and more banks close in towns, OneBanks has chosen three pilot towns to open a kiosk with an advisor offering face-to-face shared bank service.

And the Co-op in Kilwinning has been chosen as one of the venues.

At the moment, most Kilwinning residents have to travel to Irvine to do their banking but this new kiosk is being billed as the future of High Street banking.

It offers everyday banking and can be used by customers of any bank with extended opening hours to coincide with the supermarket opening times.

Duncan Cockburn, OneBanks’ founder and CEO, said: “Co-op is a remarkable retailer with the community right at its heart and by joining forces together, we will bring human banking back. It’s so important that residents and businesses have quick and easy access to essential banking services and OneBanks in the Co-op store means that we’re able to provide straightforward banking solutions to ensure financial inclusion for all.

“Recent months have seen radical change in the world and it’s no surprise people are drawn towards brands that listen to their new needs. We want to be a part of this new world and we’re using new, advanced technology to do something a little old fashioned: bringing banking back to people.”

OneBanks was set up to help people who don’t want to do their banking online and wo want customer service.
