ESSENTIAL maintenance will be carried out on the A78 between Red Burn and Bank Street Overbridge, south of Eglinton, from Sunday, June 20 until Sunday, June 27.

This scheme, with a value of £636,035, will benefit around 7,255 vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive future maintenance .

The work will be carried out by Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, using 24/7 contraflow traffic management throughout the scheme’s duration.

They thanked road users in advance for their patience while this essential maintenance is underway.

The A78 southbound on slip from Eglinton Toll will be closed with traffic being diverted via the Eglinton Interchange northbound on slip to perform a U-turn at the Pennyburn Roundabout and return via the southbound A78.

Amey operatives will

follow strict physical distancing and hygiene protocols throughout the programme, in line with the Scottish Government’s COVID-19 guidance.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
