An Irvine man admitted climbing into bed with a woman and taking his clothes off without her consent while she lay asleep and intoxicated.

Craig Delaney, 26, pled guilty to an alternative charge of causing the complainer fear and alarm under deletion of words when he returned to face trial at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week [Monday, June 21].

Delaney, of Kilsyth Crescent, Bourtreehill, admitted the charge of threatening or abusive behaviour at another address in the North Ayrshire area on December 1 back in 2019.

Her Majesty’s Advocate’s criminal indictment states that Delaney removed his trousers and pants and climbed into bed with the woman while she was sleeping and intoxicated.

The accused, represented by McClusky Browne Solicitors plead guilty when the case was called in court last week.

Sentencing was deferred for a criminal justice social work report into Delaney and community service assessment.

His bail was continued and he will return to court at a later date.

Any information on criminality can be reported to Police Scotland by contacting officers on 101.
