Cops are hunting a group of youngsters after disorder at Irvine beach as residents and visitors enjoyed the better weather.

Three vehicles raced down Harbour Street just after 7pm last night [Wednesday] after reports of a disturbance on the beach.

Police confirmed enquiries are ongoing into the unspecified incident after the group fled on arrival.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a disturbance involving a group gathered on the beach in Irvine around 7.15pm on Wednesday, June 30.

“Officers attended and the group subsequently dispersed.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
