An Irvine man caught carrying a meat cleaver and pepper spray who later gave a false name to cops was caged for more than two years.

Andrew Robb, 25, was jailed when he appeared for sentencing regarding three separate matters – including attempting to break into Burger King – after previously pleading guilty at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court

Court papers state Robb was caught carrying a meat cleaver at Irvine’s Meadowhead Roundabout on the A78, in July, 2019.

He also admitted to two separate charges on the indictment of having possessing pepper spray in Saltcoats Police Office, Glencairn Street on the same date and a charge of having pepper spray without holding a firearms certificate.

Robb also broke into Burger King in The Riverway Retail Park with the intent to steal on March 3 last year, before then repeatedly shouting, swearing then state he was in possession of a knife and threaten violence, both while on bail.

Robb, of Caldon Road, Irvine, was also sentenced on a separate complaint of perverting the course of justice in Nelson Street Largs, giving police a false name to evade arrest .

He was jailed for two and a half years for all the offences.
