IRVINE’S Gro Coffee Shop will be offering more than a cuppa and some cake as it is set to play host to yoga workshops this month.

And once you have taken part in the yoga lesson you will be invited to take a wild sea dip in the harbour too.

Set up by the new Ayrshire Yoga Cooperative, yoga will be led by instructor Vicki Newall in the harbourside coffee shop’s garden.

Vicki said: “The Ayrshire Yoga Cooperative is a wonderful community of people who pulled together to create a forum for yoga following the closure of a beloved studio that we all attended in Irvine.

“The cooperative was a lifeline for me and many others in the group during lockdown, it is a supportive group in many ways and the instructors also felt supported by the co-operative during lockdown, and they also supported members.

“We are a not-for-profit group and we use any additional funds to support the community and have made donations to the North Ayrshire Food Bank and Women’s Aid.

“Part of yoga for us is the true value in giving something back and I was humbled that the cooperative kindly donated me some funds which helped purchase my insurance to start teaching.

“The coop always used to practice in person but COVID saw us moving online and we are now moving to a hybrid approach hence the

partnership with Gro. We are trialling my classes in the garden of Gro coffee shop to see how things

go and combining this

with the cold water dips afterwards. Gro had an interest in yoga as well as the wild swimming and were keen to support the coop and we were keen to support a local business. Classes will be open to members first but any additional spaces left will be advertised .”
