AN IRVINE opticians branch have been unveiled as the official sponsor of this year’s North Ayrshire Athletics Club (NAAC) 10k race in September, as the event gets back on track following a virtual format last year.

This will be the fourth consecutive year that the team at Specsavers in Irvine has supported the event, which is set to take place in Saltcoats on September 5.

Members of the team at the Rivergate Centre store will be volunteering on raceday, with a few dedicated members of staff also taking part in the race itself to raise money for good causes.

Kirsteen Brown, club president at the North Ayrshire Atheletics Club, said: “We’re hugely grateful for the time, generosity and support the staff at Specsavers in Irvine always provide our annual event. The store’s sponsorship helps to ensure the event can take place each year.

“We held last year’s event virtually, so those taking part ran the 10k in their own time and space, so we’re thrilled to be able to once again host this year’s event in person. We’re confident that this year’s event is going to be our best one yet and we’re thrilled to already see excited feedback from people hoping to get involved.’

Lynsay Dunlop, store director at Specavers Irvine, says: “The team always looks forward to getting involved in the NAAC 10k and this year is no different, especially as we help the outdoors event get back on track. We’ll be helping our colleagues to raise funds for their charities ahead of them taking part in the event.”
