AN IRVINE storage solutions firm has cemented its rapid expansion by moving into premises which are ten times larger than their current base.

Council Leader Joe Cullinane presented the keys to local business, Rackit, this week when they met to celebrate this latest milestone in the company’s successful journey.

The business will move from their current 3,500 square feet premises at Irvine Industrial Park into the brand new 35,000 square feet Gateway Building located within i3 – Scotland’s largest Life Science enterprise area – in the coming weeks.

Rackit was established in 2006 and provides its customers – from small office-based businesses to multinational global giants – with solid and innovative storage and handling solutions.

It has grown from a £1 million business in 2008, to £6.5 million in 2021, with plans to double this again within two years. They expect to create 40 new jobs by the end of next year – with 12 new posts coming in the next few months.

Rackit Group CEO and Founder, Jim Ferguson, said: “Rackit’s success has always been through its team members. Our customers consistently mention how the team out-performs our competitors in service levels, particularly in our installation projects, using our experienced in-house installation engineers.

“Our journey has seen Rackit become a main player both in Scotland and the rest of the UK, with most recent years expanding into Europe in a very big way. With this new facility becoming our European Headquarters, this will be a great support for our operations at our other locations in Glenrothes, Birmingham, Derby, London, Dublin and Amsterdam.

“We feel the location and potential at i3 is perfect as we continue to grow .”

Council Leader Joe Cullinane said: “We are absolutely delighted to mark this latest success in Rackit’s journey and to welcome them, as the first tenant, to the impressive Gateway Building at i3.

“They are a business that shares our values when it comes to Community Wealth Building and they are committed to providing local living wage jobs.”
