Irvine Meadow co manager Colin Spence says he is thrilled that the team picked up their first home win of the season after beating Cumbernauld United 2-0 at the weekend.

In a feisty affair at Medda Park which saw three red cards, goals from Mark McLennnan and Andy McLaughlin ensured Meadow’s second win of the week.

Speaking to the Times, Spence said: “We put a challenge to the players to really go and put on a performance at the weekend and show the supporters we are a good side because they had not seen the best of us at home.

“It was our first clean sheet of the season as well , so overall it was a very pleasing performance.”

Next up for Medda is a trip to Townhead to take on Cumnock at the weekend, with the side not having midweek commitments.

Spence says the side will be looking to use that to their advantage to field almost their full squad against the nock.

He iold the Times: “We should have Connor Boyd back by this weekend so it should be our fully fit squad bar Mick Wardrope who is suspended.

“That is brillaint as we have real competition for places.”
