Kilwinning's big Picnic in the Park event will be back this week as coronavirus restrictions ease.

The annual gathering will go ahead on Thursday, August 12 but with number restrictions and different sessions.

Organisers Kilwinning Community Events have aimed the equipment for little ones up to 11 years with an array of inflatables and a kids ride.

Some of the equipment is suitable for older children and a Twister will be available for those tall enough.

You can make sure you get wristbands for the session you would like to attend in advance via the online link or at pre event sales. The sessions run from Morning 11am to 1pm Afternoon 2pm to 4pm and Evening 5 to 7pm.

This allows you to have them in advance and all participants getting straight onto the equipment as it opens avoiding extra queuing.

Catering on site will be brought by the Frying Scotsman and Frank's ice cream van although you are very welcome to bring your own picnic.

There will be some other try it sessions and NA Youth Services with Uncle Billy and Fabulous Fraser on hand entertaining the kids and doing balloon modelling.

Parking on the day is readily available at Kilwinning Academy and Abbey Primary. There will be signs to direct you on the day. Please do not park in residential areas.

Kilbirnie/ Beith buses stop right outside the park and due to the roadworks the best bus stop on the 12th will be Byres Road at Hotel. The train station is an 8 to 10 minute walk away.

Advance warning of Roadworks at Howgate may effect traffic flows in the area. Updates will be posted on Facebook page nearer the time if it will effect the event.
