TO CELEBRATE their first Ravenfest in Irvine – the two-day festival celebrating the life and work of Edgar Allan Poe and his time spent in the town – Poetic Justice Productions is launching a story writing competition.
The group is looking for stories of up to 500 words in the style of horror and crime master Poe.
There will be first, second and third prizes of £50, £30 and £20 in two categories – ages five to 17, and 18 and over.
As well as their cash prizes, the winners will get the chance to hear their story read out to the public during Ravenfest, which is set to run on October 29 and 30, 2021.
And they will also see their work appear in the pages and online thanks to media sponsors The Irvine Times.
Poetic Justice’s Helen Aitken said: “We are really excited to launch the competition during our first Ravenfest and are really looking forward to reading the entries.
“We are sure there will be some deliciously macabre and chilling entries from horror story fans young and old.”
Entries to the competition should be sent to helencaitken@hotmail.com by no later than October 15 - so get writing now to be in with a chance of winning.
Under 18 entrants should state their age along with their submission.
