A house has been broken into and the residents have had their luxury car stolen after the thief made off with the key.

The theft took place on Birklands Wynd, in the early hours of Thursday, October 7.

And now, officers are appealing to the public for any information that might help them to locate the car/the culprit.

Police say they have established that the suspect spent some hours in the surrounding areas before breaking into the house and stealing the key to the white BMW 218i Luxury with the licence plate SF65 ZYN, before driving away in the stolen car.

The suspect is described as being a white man, with a slim build.

He was wearing a black jacket with the hood up, blue jeans and a white face mask.

Detective Constable Robbie McIntosh, from Saltcoats CID, said: “We’re appealing to anyone with information on this incident, or possible CCTV footage, to please come forward.

“I’d also like to take this opportunity to remind residents to by extra vigilant with their home and vehicle security at all times.
