A man has been arrested following an alleged serious assault in Dreghorn this afternoon [Friday, October 15]
Following a report of a group disturbance around 4pm this afternoon, a man had been taken to hospital with a serious hand injury.
Police are now carrying out an investigation.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a group disturbance on Dundonald Road in the Dreghorn area of Irvine around 4pm on Friday, 15 October.
"One man has been taken to Crosshouse Hospital with a serious hand injury.
"One man has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing.
"Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 2264 of 15 October. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111."
