Kind-hearted Irvine volunteers handed over a grand sum of £1,400 to help support a children’s charity.
The team at Towerlands Sports Club raised £1,000 through several events including games nights – with an additional £400 given alongside the cheque on the day.
And the volunteers – who are always on the hunt for new volunteers and more support – handed over the sum to the Children 1st charity at the
club in Bourtreehill on Saturday.
Volunteer Robert Frew said: “We raised the money through charity days and games days – we do as much as we can for charity.
“We used to support cancer charities every year, so thought it would be a change and went with Children’s 1st this time and raised them some money. It was £1,400 in total as we managed to raise more that afternoon.”
Towerland Sports Club regularly hosts community events including entertainment on a Saturday night on a monthly basis and weekly darts on Mondays.
The club’s next event will be a bingo night this Thursday at 7pm with all welcome.
