PLANS to turn Irvine's historic King's Arms Hotel into six new homes have moved forward.

New draft proposals have been drawn up as the derelict town centre landmark becomes part of North Ayrshire Council's ambitious housing programme.

The proposed six amenity properties will be a mix of one and two-bedroom homes with redevelopment work currently scheduled to get under way in autumn 2022.

Members of the public can view and comment on the draft plans from Monday, November 15, until Friday, December 10 2021, online at northayrshire.community/consultations/

An online consultation event on the proposals is also being held on Thursday, December 2, with appointments available between 4pm and 6pm.

To book a place, please email developmentandstrategy@north-ayrshire.gov.uk or telephone 01294 324031 by Monday, November 29.

The consultation event allows interested people to obtain information about the project, view the draft site plans and house designs, and discuss any concerns about the building works.
