NORTH Ayrshire businesses took home prizes at November’s Scotland Business Awards.

The annual award ceremony, which recognises the best businesses across Scotland, was cancelled in 2020 due to Covid-19. However the event was back with a bang in 2021 as over 500 businesses took part in the glitzy night on November 6.

And Irvine businesses were praised in the Regional Awards category, with local venues Fran’s Coffee House, MyClaws Salon and Robertson’s Barber Shop picking up awards as well as Kilwinning’s Seymour Store and Takeaway.

Owner of MyClaws Salon, Vhari McLaws, told the Times: “We got best Nail Salon this year, and last year it was Best Beauty Treatment.

“I think it was a bit emotional, at least I spoke this time! It came at the right time after losing my dad and everything.

“And to think I wasn’t going to go. I thanked everyone when I spoke, and my partner who works 24/7 and also the girls because the business wouldn’t be the business without them.

“Thanks to those who voted for us, they’re appreciated in every single way as well as our customers, it’s nice to be appreciated by them.”

Robertson’s Barber Shop owner Suzi Robertson added: “We won Best Barbers in Ayrshire, it’s absolutely amazing.

“I’m really overwhelmed and didn’t expect it.

“We’ve only been opened two year and nine months, and it’s been difficult, but it’s exciting continuing to thrive every day as it still feels like a new business really.

“I’m lucky I’ve got a really good clientele, they followed me from a shop I worked in before and their support has been great, you can’t have a business without them so its great that they support you.

“I’d like to thank my husband Scott for his support and my customers.”

Tony Fuggle of Seymour Store and Takeaway said: “Amazingly we won our category and were named Ayrshire’s Best Independent Retailer 2021.

“This also means we go into the Grand Final of Scotland which we cannot wait to attend and fingers crossed that we win.

“Our hard work through these difficult few years is paying off for us.”

Congratulations to all the winners from the Irvine

Times.
