The team at a popular Irvine seaside spot has secured an award for best café business in Ayrshire.

Puffers Café won the coveted prize thanks to the teams efforts at the annual Ayrshire business awards earlier in the month.

The eatery is situated in the harbourside Boatshop building with uninterrupted panoramic views over the Garnock and Irvine river estuary, and is open to non-museum visitors.

Company director Catherine Walker said: "We had a fantastic night at the awards and were delighted to win.

"All the staff work so hard especially the two managers. Front of house manager Marion and Head Chef kitchen manager Scott.

"I only took over Puffers last November and had to close in the December so we have worked really hard to get to where we are.

"It’s been a hard time for all businesses, which makes receiving this award even more special.

"I would like to thank all my fantastic staff for their continued commitment and hard work and our wonderful customers for the nomination, votes and support.

"We now go through to the final in Glasgow and are all really excited for the night."

The annual award ceremony, which recognises the best businesses across Scotland, was cancelled in 2020 due to Covid-19. However the event was back with a bang in 2021 as over 500 businesses took part in the glitzy night on November 6.

And other Irvine businesses were praised in the Regional Awards category, with local venues Fran’s Coffee House, MyClaws Salon and Robertson’s Barber Shop picking up awards as well as Kilwinning’s Seymour Store and Takeaway.
