Irvine football star Erin Cuthbert has been named the BT UK Scotland Women's Player of the Year for 2021.

It's the second time the former Greenwood Academy pupil has won the award, after picking up the accolade back in 2019.

Fans got the opportunity to pick their player of the year, with thousands of votes being cast and Erin coming out on top.

The 23-year-old started out playing for Rangers FC before moving onto Glasgow City Women’s team and joined Chelsea FC in 2016.

This year proved successful for Erin's Chelsea side as she was part of the squad that won the FA Women's Super League and the FA Women's League Cup.

Erin narrowly missed out on European glory as her side lost the UEFA Women's Champions League final to Barcelona.

However, her successful year meant the Chelsea star beat off stiff competition from Christy Grimshaw, Caroline Weir, Rachel Corsie, Claire Emslie and Lee Alexander to secure the award.
