COUNCIL chiefs have apologised after residents in Irvine saw their brown bins go uncollected by refuse staff.

Residents affected have been advised to present their brown bin on the next collection day after one mum complained her bin and Christmas tree were still in her driveway this week awaiting uplift.

She added: "It’s making my garden look very unsightly.

"It's not just my street, It's most of Irvine. KA12 area and Girdle Toll have had no brown bin uplift last all."

A North Ayrshire council spokesperson said: “Due to Covid-related absences there were some areas where brown bins were not collected last week

“We have taken measures to mitigate staffing levels and have asked those whose brown bins were not collected to present their brown bin on the next collection day.

“We apologise for the inconvenience.”
