Police are appealing to the public for help in tracing a missing man who was last seen in Irvine on Friday [January 21].

Alexander Gaw, 37, from Largs, was last seen in the Kilwinning Road area of Irvine around 6.40pm on Friday evening.

He is described as white, 6ft in height and of medium build with a shaved head and a pale complexion. When he was last seen he was wearing a blue jacket with dark-blue shoulders and blue jeans.

Sergeant Allan Glass said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned for Alexander as it is out of character for him not to keep in contact with his family and friends. He has been dealing with some personal issues and we are carrying out a number of searches and enquiries to locate him as soon as possible to ensure that he is safe and well.

“I would ask anyone who has seen Alexander, or who has any information on his whereabouts to contact officers through 101 quoting reference 2862 of 21 January."
