A YOUNG Irvine man allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and threatened to harm her pets and kill her.

Scott Reid, 20, denied charges of assault and threatening or abusive behaviour towards his partner last year.

It was claimed that he seized his partner by the hair and punched her on the head at his address at St Inan’s Avenue in August 27, 2021

It’s alleged he then placed his arm across her neck, repeatedly compressed her throat and repeatedly restricted her breathing, all to her injury.

The complaint states he also caused fear and alarm adopting an aggressive demeanour, allegedly shouting at his partner repeatedly and demanding that she leaves the property.

It’s claimed he also threatened he would harm her cat and dog then allegedly seized her cat by the throat and compressed its neck.

It’s alleged he also threatened to kill her and repeatedly kicked the door of a room she had locked herself in. The complaint states both offences are aggravated by involving alleged abuse of a partner.

Mr Reid pleaded not guilty to both charges when the case was called at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week. Bail was granted.
