An Ayrshire dog training company has shared its success in taking their training programme to residential care homes.

Canine Pawtential is ran by Amie and Lynsey, offering group classes, based in Irvine and Dreghorn at the moment, and one to one services around Ayrshire.

After carrying out a four week training course with children at a residential care home, assisted by furry friend Beau, Amie shared with the Times, how popular and beneficial this was.

She said: “The feedback from the kids and the way they’ve embraced everything we’ve thrown at them each week has just been amazing.

We themed each week differently to offer variety for them.

“In the home, Beau has the most wonderful job of brightening up and assisting the kids through their day, providing them a support mechanism and an amazing boost to not only the children’s but also the staff’s mental health.

“We’re going there weekly to do some fun, interactive activities with the kids to show them how they can also positively impact Beau’s life.

“We also baked some dog friendly treats and set up a Sensory Workshop for Beau explaining how this helps with her confidence and always encouraging her to experience new things.

“We can certainly end our four weeks together knowing that they have the skills and knowledge for life to know how to care for and entertain a dog when they grow up to have one of their own.

“We can’t express enough how rewarding this programme has been and we’re looking forward to hopefully be involved with them again in the near future.”

Amie and Lyndsey say they started the business together as they both have the same passion and ethics with regards to training dogs and educating people.

The pair feel like they can offer a lot of knowledge and information to all dog guardians by providing positive and force free training solutions for a variety of issues that dog guardians may have from puppies to senior dogs.

They said: “We believe no dog (or person) is ever too young or too old to learn and we want to allow people to see how amazing a dog can be when given the opportunity and love they deserve.”
