AN IRVINE man told police they were ‘all the f***ing same’ and that he would ‘rip the jaw clean off’ them when officers ran into him heading home from a night out.

Cameron Affleck, 37, admitted causing fear and alarm through shouting, swearing and uttering threats – as well being caught with a quantity under 0.1gram of cocaine when officers ran into him in Mill Place on August 21 last year.

The greasy pole champion, well-known for his efforts cutting the ham as the Affleck team’s top man in the Marymass highlight, previously served custody last year for flinging drugs and a burner phone into HMP Kilmarnock.

The procurator fiscal depute said: “At 3.15am on the date libelled police were on mobile uniformed patrol when they were tasked to attend the locus. Police observed the accused crouching on a driveway.

“Police began speaking to the accused, at which time the accused stated “you’re all the f***ing same” and “I’ll rip the jaw clean off of you”.

“He was arrested, handcuffed and transported to Saltcoats police office.”

The fiscal added that Affleck continued swearing and making threats in the marked police vehicle and station.

He stated to one female cop that she “would be first when I get out” in an aggressive tone.

The fiscal depute continued: “0.07grammes of cocaine was recovered from the accused’s left sock.

“He was informed he would be released on an undertaking to appear at court and made no reply.”

Defence solicitor Alex Muir urged Sheriff Murdoch Mactaggart not to send his client to prison, saying Affleck was “keen to take up an offer of work”.

Mr Muir said: “He is 37, married and lives with his wife. He is receiving Universal Credit but has been offered work as a roofer and roughcaster – the type of work he’s done before.

“At the time it happened he was heavily intoxicated on drink and drugs.

“He had a bit of a lapse I think. He had been at friends in a state of intoxication and was trying to make his way home.

“He does not have a great recollection, but accepts what was said in the police report.”

Mr Muir added that his client was looking far better than in the past, and that he appeared to be taking the opiate-blocking prescription drug espinol after previous time in custody.

Sheriff Murdoch Mactaggart said he would defer sentence for a background social work report and an assessment for a restriction of liberty order.

Affleck’s bail was continued; he will return to Kilmarnock Sheriff Court for sentencing at a later date.
